UGC has suggested for Blended mode of teaching in higher education

Recently University Grants Commission has issued a notice referring to mixed education system. Again UGC sought advice from students, parents and teachers. With the current crisis in the world, there has been an upheaval in higher education in India as well. As a result, UGC has already suggested a mixed education system, where education will be provided through 40% online and 60% offline.

Provide mixed education:

The 547th meeting of the UGC was completed on May 29, 2020. Blended mode of teaching was discussed through the meeting. UGC Secretary Prof. Rajnish Jain has issued a notification through the website mentioning the discussed methods of the new mixed education policy. Where it should be allowed to teach up to 40% of syllabus of each course (Other than SWAYAM course) through online mode and the remain 60% syllabus of concerned courses could be taught in offline mode.

Examination Information:

Based on discussions with the UGC-sponsored expert committee, the notification addresses issues related to the testing of new teaching methods. It has been said that examination for both 40% online and 60% offline teaching can be conducted offline.

That said, 40% or more of the permissible online education for SWAYAM courses can be made up. It is also mentioned in the notice that Examinations for SWAYAM courses are essentially conducted in online mode.

There has given concept note about Blended mode of teaching and learning by UGC.

What to do now?

It is also informed that, to prepare a concept note on Blended mode of teaching the UGC constituted an expert committee. The committee has prepared a concept note with the comments / suggestions taken from the stakeholders.

Secretary Rajanish Jain and the committee have invited everyone, if there is any new comment / suggestion about UGC's Blended mode of Education, feedback can be sent to UGC's mail on or before June 6, 2021. So, UGC has suggested for Blended mode of teaching in higher education due to covid pandemic.
